A Unique MAGS Bar Pyramid Replacement

The issues:

The owner of this residence on a ridge west of Fort Collins contacted Skylight Specialists. A large bronze acrylic skylight sat at the peak of the roof. High winds broke some of the screws and it was flapping in the wind.

Three of the four corners are cracked and there is condensation/moisture between acrylic layers.

The owner wanted to increase the pitch of a skylight. However, he did not want to block the view with large pieces of extra lumber.

Our solution:

Our customer requested not to install structural support between our MAGS Bar and the existing structure. This is to avoid blocking out the view of the sky. He wants to keep the view as open as possible.

Our MAGS is a non-structural product. We managed to combine a flat 2 x 4 board with a vertical pipe. With support points at the top, in the middle, and at the curb. this created the structural support for the glazing. Our MAGS Bar was fastened to the board. This setup created the desired effect.
