The 40-year old skylight glass is failing.
This home was built in 1985 and the glass in the skylight is showing signs of seal failure—moisture between the panes. In addition, the skylight allows considerable heat into the interior and a film designed to control that heat is peeling. The owner did not report leaking, bur there are signs of water damage.
Our solution is Skylight Specialists MAGS BAR system which is designed to replace custom skylights like the one on this home.
Skylight Specialists, Inc. backs it up with a Ten Year No Leaks Workmanship Warranty
The MAGS Bar installation begins.
Remove the old.
Gutters and downspouts are removed, followed by the flashing, caps and compression bars holding in the glass. Now the glass can be removed. Removing the base pieces and some cleanup completes the demolition.
All of the materials of the old skylight are removed and consigned to either a landfill or metal recycling facility.
Install the MAGS Bar.
Much like reversing the demo of the old system, the installation starts with installing the base pieces along with engineered aluminum flashing, Next the glass is set, compression bars clamp it in place and beauty caps and caulking finish it up.
One advantage Skylight Specialists has for projects such as this is one our TURBObend, a metal folding machine designed for creating accurate bends for custom engineered skylight flashing.
The finished project:
The finished project looks great inside and out! And a 10-year No Leaks Warranty provides peace of mind.
Modern low E3 glass can reduce heat loss and heat gain. This can lower your heating and cooling costs and make your home more comfortable.
