Bubble Skylight
The acrylic domed skylight is probably the most popular skylight used today. It’s advantages are that it is easy to produce in smaller unit sizes, it sheds water on flat roofs, and it is low cost. It’s disadvantages are it is not a completely sealed unit like glass; which means it is not the most energy efficient skylight, the acrylic can have a “waviness” look to it, it is old technology; there are newer designs with higher heat retention frames that don’t condensate, acrylic can be scratched, and cheapest skylights the acrylic yellows, acrylic breaks easier during wind and hail storms.
